Library Lovelies and Riveting Reservations #6

Long time, No Post

Please don't kill me readers,

So yet again I had a bit of a blogging break but it can be easily explained - On Wednesday I had to got to a performance so I could review it for my school newspaper and On Thursday I didn't know what post to do.

I'm back now though and it's time for the first Library Lovelies and Riveting Reservations post of July :

Riveting Reservations

This section will be complied in to three categories - Arrived (books I reserved but are now ready to collect) , In Transit (when they've sent the book to my library but it hasn't arrived yet) and Reserved (when they've not done anything regarding my reservation).Today there's only two categories though because nothings Arrived yet.

In Transit

Sweethearts #3 - Ice Dreams by Jo Cotterill - Labelled as this on the 11th July

Reserved

Everything is fine (and other lies I tell myself) by Cathy Brett - Reserved 13th July

Library Lovelies

My District Library

Going too far by Jennifer Echols - I've been eyeing this up for months but Today I finally decided to borrow it. Heard excellent things about this author and I do want to read another book (Love Story) by this author so I hope she's good

The truth about my success by Dyan Sheldon - One of my favourite author's 2013 release and the plot sounds amazing. I adore books about swapping lives and indentical strangers/twins.

Airhead #1 by Meg Cabot - I've already got the second book in this series because my sister absoulutely loved this author when she was my age and younger. I'm really excited for it as I've wanted to read this for a while.

Thanks for reading this post!

Library Lovelies and Riveting Reservations #5

"Nothing is pleasanter to me than exploring in a library.”

Hey Bookaholics,

Today I guiltily bring you another Library Lovelies and Riveting Reservations post even though I'm supposed to be on a Library ban.

The library ban means there isn't going to be a Riveting Reservations section in this post.

Let's begin :

Nearby District Library

Lovestruck by Rachael Wing

Sounds like a cute summer contempory. The blurb hardly reveals anything at all so hopefully this means it won't be predictable.

I've never read anything by an author in their teens before so it should at least be an experience.

Sabrina the teenage witch - The magic within

I remember watching the show with my sister (I was a toddler and she was a 7 year old) when she used to be obsessed with it.

The story and art of this graphic novel sounded intriguing therefore I couldn't resist borrowing it.

I'm actually about to start it after this post (and admittedly a bit of procrastinating on Youtube).

Love Phobia #1

Read a vampire manga before that was okay so I thought I'd read another.

My District Library

Magenta #3 - Magenta goes green by Echo Freer

I read nearly all the books in the series last year (#1,#4 and #5) but this one wasn't available to me at the time therefore I couldn't sample the humorousness that I hope -like the others - it contains.

I think I'll have to read the first again before reading this novel which will be a pleasure as this is one of my favourite series'.

The world's worst mothers by Sabine Ludwig

The premise seemed pretty engrossing and original so I thought I'd try this 2013 release.

Review - Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs

I believe in thunderbolts and butterflies,

Hey Bookworms,

Today I finally bring you a review and a very positive plus lengthy one at that.

The quote is from the song Cinderella by Diana Vickers. I picked the quote because I've missed her music and am really loving that song at the moment. Anticipating another spectacular album soon from her.

Back to the actual review :

Book name - Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children

Author - Ransom Riggs

Page count - 352 pages

Time spent reading - 12th June - 15th June

Review :

After waiting almost five months to read this due to a long reservation list at the library it was finally mine and I had extremely high hopes for it.

This is because I saw the splendid book trailer, was aware that my favourite director was planning to film an adaptation of it and my favourite booktuber loves it.

It certainly didn't disappoint as it's now in my top favourite books of all time and of this year.

If I was to describe the plot I'd use these words/phrases : time travel, self-discovery , family history, phenomenal photographs , heart-warming romance, war, peace, monsters and some very peculiar children.

During this reading experience I :

Was taken on an emotional roller-coaster ride

Became  overly-attached to all the wonderful characters

Was chilled to the bone by the despicable hollowgasts and wights

Pined over the photos endlessly

In addition to being able to visualise it as a movie .

My local Waterstones branch better watch out as I'll be dashing in there like a madwoman to purchase my own hardcover copy as soon as possible. Obviously I'll be first in line to buy the graphic novel, sequel and film ticket as well when they're released.

You can probably already guess the rating , but it is here anyway :

5 out of 5 stars

Thanks for reading this post !

What was the last book you read? Did you post a review too?

I'd love to hear about it so leave a Comment so I can find the review.

Library Lovelies and Riveting Reservations #4

"The only thing that you absolutely have to know, is the location of the library.”

Hey everyone!,

Today I went to My District Library again and picked up 3 2013 releases worthy of sharing with you.

The Albert Einstein quote expresses one of my personal beliefs.

But before we begin, lets have a look at my current reservations :

Riveting Reservations

I'm trying to conquer my June TBR pile (of books that I own) at the moment so today there's only one book to read about.

In Transit

Magenta #3- Magenta Goes Green by Echo Freer - Labelled as this Today, Coming to My District Library

Library Lovelies

So Much Closer by Susane Colasanti

A simple yet beautiful cover that is far superior to the other editions on Goodreads.

The plot seems extremely farfetched however I usually enjoy contempory romances and mix in a New York setting then it seems like a recipe for perfection.

In addition the author seems to be pretty popular as I'd heard of her before , making that just another reason to make me pick this up.

While the others sleep by Tom Becker

Never heard of these other two books now but I needed some more creepiness after the superlative Miss Peregrine's (review coming soon).

A horrorifically gripping blurb that details a story that's set in a sanatorium - I can't wait to delve into the story.

Soul Shadows by Alex Woolf

What kind of therapist prescribes you to stay in an isolated cottage with murderous shadows lurking in the surroundings to make you deal with a traumatic past ? Apparentely the therapist in this novel.

I've tried to read a book about shadows that kill before but failed to like it so hopefully with this book it will be a different outcome.

Library Lovelies and Riveting Reservations #3

"When I got my library card, that was when my life began."

Happy Monday readers,

Although it was only reinforced yesterday I've already managed to ruin the schedule. Rules are made to be broken I suppose.

Anyway todays post is of the loss of control I experienced on Saturday 8th when I went to two libraries.

The quote stated by Rita Mae Brown sums me up completely because I can't imagine my life (and how penniless I'd be) without the taken for granted privilege of visiting a library.

Anway I'll begin by discussing the reservations I've made :

Riveting Reservations

This section will be complied in to three categories - Arrived (books I reserved but are now ready to collect) , In Transit (when they've sent the book to my library but it hasn't arrived yet) and Reserved (when they've not done anything regarding my reservation).Today there's only one category though because I only made these reservations Today

Reserved

Magenta #3 - Magenta goes green by Echo Freer - Reserved Today Coming to My District library

Strawberry marshmallow by Barasui - Reserved Today Coming to My District library

Shut out by Kody Keplinger - Reserved Today Coming to My District library

Library Lovelies

My Nearby District Library

Teen Dreams by Roz Kaveney

I picked up this guide to teen films as I'm running out of movies to watch so I thought this would help me discover some new choices.

There's a picture from one of favourite films Clueless on the cover which I interpret as a good sign

Steady Beat #1 by Rivkah

This sounded like a spectacular mystery Manga and should be easy to devour.

Celebutauntes #2 - In the club by Antonio Pagliarulo

My last review on this Blog was of the first one in the series and if you've read that (go read it now please if you haven't) you may have predicted that I'd pick this up.

Despite the hideous cover (seriously who told that girl to do that facial expression?) I'm really enthused to read this and I pray that it's as good as the first.

Romeo & Juliet retold by Powell Cabrera

I've already read this but you'll have to read my upcoming review to hear my thoughts.

Selected due to the fact I adore the original tale that it's a graphic novel of.

My District Library

Megastar Mysteries #7 - Estelle by Annabelle Starr

Still pursuing this series for fun. You can check out my review for the previous book on this blog. I read this Today but you'll have to wait a while to hear my opinion on it.

Megastar Mysteries #8 - Hollie by Annabelle Starr

A threat to my current favourite in the series #5 Honeydale in order to the fact the plot revolves around an author's (which is what I aspire to be) mystery.

Diary of a mall girl by Luisa Plaja

I believe this a 2013 contempory debut and it seems like the perfect girly read for this Summer. The concepts pretty interesting so I'm relatively excited to read this.

Miss Peregrine's home for peculiar children by Ransom Riggs

I've wanted to read this since it was released but due to countess others reserving it on the Library website I've only managed to pick it up now.

I love how there's creepy photographs involved and I can already visualise Tim Burton (my favourite director) making it into a movie.

Extremely high hopes for this.

The Carrie Diaries #2 - Summer and the city by Candace Bushnell

I thought the Carrie Diaries was an average book (I can't decide whether I prefer it or not to the show) so I thought I'd pick up the sequel.

That was a big mistake as I loathed this book and didn't even finish it. There was inaccuracies to Sex and the city regarding her meeting Miranda.

Would not recommend.

Review - The Celebutantes #1 - On the avenue by Antonio Pagliarulo

There's somethin' bout the way,The street looks when it's just rained,

Hello readers,

Today I post to you in a rather depressed mood due to Undone by Cat Clarke. I'm almost finished yet I'm dreading the ending. It also doesn't help that I'm listening to sad songs.I was always one to create an atmosphere.

The Taylor Swift quote refers to the constant torrential down pours outside my window right now - natures even galvanising the atmosphere to heighten.

Anyway let's move onto the review before I break down into tears and my laptop electrocutes me :

Book name - On the avenue

Series - #1 in The Celebutantes

Author - Antonio Pagliarulo

Page count - 342 pages

Time spent reading - 25th May - 28th May

Review :

You'll probably recognise this book from my Library Lovelies and Riveting Reservations orginal post. I picked it up last Thursday because it just seemed like the ridiculous 'trash' I'd enjoy.

A magnificent mystery.

The plot revolves around the Hamilton triplets - the richest, most scandalous and famous trio of  New York City.

When they're accused of murdering the maker and breaker of the fashion industry ,due to the fact her body is found dressed in a garment from their upcoming fashion line, they decide to find the real killer.

It's similar to two of my favourite things so I'd recommend it to fans of these :

Pretty Little Liars - they receive unpleasant texts from an anonymous source and are solving a murder in both.

Gossip Girl - (I've yet to read the book series but it shares these qualities with the tv show) it's set in Manhattan and the girls personalities plus lives  resemble that of characters on the show - especially Lexington and Serena.

Unexpected murderer therefore I'll definitely continue reading this series.

Rating :

4 out of 5 stars

Library Lovelies and Riveting Reservations #2

Here Comes The Sun !,

My apologies readers,

Yet again I didn't post on Friday. I think I might organise a different schedule that doesn't involve posting daily but 4 or 5 days a week instead because I've felt too much pressure recently to post. More on that when I've made a decision.

'Here Comes The Sun' refers to the extraordinary weather my town has been experiencing Today. This means I can read outside finally which is my favourite thing to do when it's scorching.Hopefully it will stay like this during my school break.

Today I bring you another edition from my newest segment. This time the borrowed beauties are from My District Library and there's only two books to show. Also you're able to get a sneak peek of some of the future books I'll borrowing because I've reserved them and listed them below.

Riveting Reservations

This section will be complied in to three categories - Arrived (books I reserved but are now ready to collect) , In Transit (when they've sent the book to my library but it hasn't arrived yet) and Reserved (when they've not done anything regarding my reservation).Today there's only two categories because I picked up all the books that arrived today.

Library Lovelies

Dream on by Steve Barlow and Steve Skidmore

An adorable romantic contemporary. You may remember this being mentioned in my previous post. It revolves around a Romeo and Juliet production so it's bound to be good - I love R&J plus books centring around plays.

Megastar Mysteries #5 - Honeydale by Annabelle Starr

I read and reviewed book 6 in this series last week and craved more of the unrealistic celebrity crime solving . In this book Rosie's on a Journalism course when her detective skills are required so it should be even more interesting - I'm a reporter for my school newspaper.

Thanks for reading this post !

Library Lovelies and Riveting Reservations #1

"I have always imagined that Paradise will be a kind of library"

Welcome to my new segment readers,

During this post I will show you my library lovelies  - books that I've borrowed from one of the local libraries - and riveting reservations - books that weren't available at the library I go to so I've pestered for them to be sent to my library so I can read them. Also it's basically just an excuse to write about my adoration of libraries.

I went quite psycho Today with the amount I checked out because I'm off school next week therefore I'll have more devouring time. It's only my second time visiting this particular library (I'm a member of 3 - My District library, Nearby District Library and my School Library) the Nearby District library so I have plenty of options to choose from.

The previous time I visited it I didn't notice that it had a self-service machine. Today was the first time I'd ever encountered them - it certainly saves my books from not being scanned properly by ditsy librarians but has me worried about my hopeful career as a librarian.

Riveting Reservations

This section will be complied in to three categories - Arrived (books I reserved but are now ready to collect) , In Transit (when they've sent the book to my library but it hasn't arrived yet) and Reserved (when they've not done anything regarding my reservation).

Arrived

Dream on by Steve Barlow and Steve Skidmore - Arrived at My District Library on the 21st

In Transit

Megastar Mysteries #5 - Honeydale by Annabelle Starr - Labelled as In Transit as of Today coming to My District Library

Reserved

Miss Peregrines home for peculiar children by Ransom Riggs - Reserved on January 18th 2013 coming to My District Library

Diary of a mall girl by Luisa Plaja - Reserved on May 18th 2013 coming to My District Library

Pretty little liars #7 - Heartless by Sara Shepard - Reserved Today coming to the Nearby District Library

Pretty Little Liars #8 - Wanted by Sara Shepard - Reserved Today coming to the Nearby District Library

Steady Beat #1 (Manga) by Rivkah - Reserved Today coming to the Nearby District Library

Library Lovelies

Animal Academy #1 by Hakobune Hakusho

This library has a colossal Manga section (6 shelves full) therefore I'll be reading a lot more from this genre now.

I picked this one up before some of the others because of it's plot - a normal girl enrols in a school for shape-shifters.

The reason I love these books is that they're so adorable, pretty and quick reads.

Interested in this book ? Click here for more information : http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/6096134-animal-academy

Koihime Soushi by Koge-Donbo

Another Manga but this time a romance centring around a girl with the ability to galvanise people to love her.

Interested in this book ? Click here for more information :

http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/6332957-koihime-soushi-volume-1

Wrong Number by Chloe Rayban

The author of this book wrote  a series that I own called the Justine Duval/Wild Child series which I plan to read in June.

Therefore when I noticed this 70 page quick read I thought I'd see if I enjoyed her writing style.

It sounds so sweet - it's about a girl who receives a call from boy who has dialled a wrong number and starts falling in love with him.

The catastrophic history of you and me by Jess Rothenberg

I've been extremely excited for this book since it was released last autumn.

Who wouldn't adore a book with a pretty cover, creative title and a plot line to die for ?

Interested in this book ? Click here for more information :

http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/11387392-the-catastrophic-history-of-you-and-me

Undone by Cat Clarke

Similarly to the previous book listed, I've been awaiting the opportunity to read this novel.

The plot is simple yet intriguing - an investigation of her best friends death - but the length (500 pages) supplies that there's depth to the story.

Interested in this book ? Click here for more information : http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/16036975-undone?ac=1

The Celebutantes #1 - On the avenue by Antonio Pagliarulo

A Goodreads reviewer described this as Nancy Drew (which I love) + Gossip Girl (which I loved the t.v show of and plan to finally read the book series of in September) + Pretty Little Liars (which words can not express how much I love) so if that's true this maybe the best book ever !

The plot line sounds amazing and I've never read a book about triplets before.

Interested in this book ? Click here for more information : http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1167623.The_Celebutantes

Prophecy of the sisters by Michelle Zink

A horror-themed book about twins sound like something utterly unmissable and was recommended to me on Goodreads.
