Library Lovelies and Riveting Reservations #6

Long time, No Post

Please don't kill me readers,

So yet again I had a bit of a blogging break but it can be easily explained - On Wednesday I had to got to a performance so I could review it for my school newspaper and On Thursday I didn't know what post to do.

I'm back now though and it's time for the first Library Lovelies and Riveting Reservations post of July :

Riveting Reservations

This section will be complied in to three categories - Arrived (books I reserved but are now ready to collect) , In Transit (when they've sent the book to my library but it hasn't arrived yet) and Reserved (when they've not done anything regarding my reservation).Today there's only two categories though because nothings Arrived yet.

In Transit

Sweethearts #3 - Ice Dreams by Jo Cotterill - Labelled as this on the 11th July

Reserved

Everything is fine (and other lies I tell myself) by Cathy Brett - Reserved 13th July

Library Lovelies
My District Library

Going too far by Jennifer Echols - I've been eyeing this up for months but Today I finally decided to borrow it. Heard excellent things about this author and I do want to read another book (Love Story) by this author so I hope she's good

The truth about my success by Dyan Sheldon - One of my favourite author's 2013 release and the plot sounds amazing. I adore books about swapping lives and indentical strangers/twins.

Airhead #1 by Meg Cabot - I've already got the second book in this series because my sister absoulutely loved this author when she was my age and younger. I'm really excited for it as I've wanted to read this for a while.

Thanks for reading this post!

If you enjoyed please Follow me, Comment, Friend me on Goodreads (the link is in the sidebar to my account) and Read my other posts (if you haven't already).

What books have you got/reserved from the library recently?

Have you read any of these books?
Please leave a Comment below because I'd appreciate hearing your opinions ( good or bad) about the book/s.

Book Haul #7

Summer Lovin' Read-a-thon happened so fast, Summer Lovin' Read-a-thon oh what a blast !

Welcome to catch-up time web-users,

Today I show you all the books I've - guilty - accumulated thus far in July. This post does not include the e-books as I plan to showcase them in a separate post.

This is actually a trial new format of my book haul posts as it's quicker and easier just to take one picture. sorry if you like looking at covers though.

There's nothing more to say so let's begin :

First 6 books I got in my hometown's Age Concern last Wednesday on what was supposed to be a 5 for £1 deal but the lady at the till was super nice and let me have 6th for free instead of having to pay an extra 30p.

Sabrina the teenage witch #19 - Shamrock shenanigans - The title and cover of this made me laugh but I've really become a fan of Sabrina recently so didn't hesitate to snap this up.

Sabrina the teenage with #28 - Up, up and away - Don't really know much about the 1700's so it will be  interesting and informative to read a book set in that time period.

Sabrina the teenage witch #32 - Reality check - The plot of this one was partially covered in one of the graphic novels but this actually sounds like a better version of the story.

Sabrina the teenage witch #33 - Knock on wood - Does anyone else think of Easy A ?

Sabrina the teenage witch #49 - The truth hurts - Probably the most intriguing.

Nancy Drew #38 - The double jinx mystery by Carolyn Keene - Have been and plan on continuing to read Nancy books a lot this summer. Love these (90's) editions of the covers.

This next book I won in a Goodreads Giveaway so I couldn't believe it was hardcover when it arrived on Thursday. Thank you Simon and Schuster !

Changeling #2 - Stormbringers by Philippa Gregory - I don't read historical fiction despite my love of history and this author's supposed to be the superlative of the genre. Haven't read the first one but will try to get started on the series soon.

The final two books are from my Nearby District Library's book sale and they were 40p each.

Ouran High School Host Club #5 - Manga for sale at a cheap price is rare so even though I haven't started this series (my friend recommend it once) I bought this.

A year without Autumn by Liz Kessler - Interesting synopsis so I purchased it.

Thank you for reading this post !
If you enjoyed please Follow me, Comment, Friend me on Goodreads (the link is in the sidebar to my account) and Read my other posts (if you haven't already).

Have you read or do you know more about these books ?

Did you go Book shopping recently?
Please Comment what you bought below and I'll certainly check them out.

Summer Lovin' Read-a-thon Update #6

Some like it hot,

Hi readers,

So today I've been really busy reading outside to take advantage of this glorious heat wave (hence the lyrics) therefore I've only got time to post a quick update. I apologise.

Update #6
Last night I got to page 34 in Love Struck by Rachael Wing before I decided to give up on it. Also I got to page 18 in Sabrina the teenage witch #10 - Lotsa Luck.

Today I finished Sabrina the teenage witch #10 - Lotsa Luck and got to page 145 in the first Bakuman manga.

Probably won't read anymore as I'll be sleeping very soon.

Summer Lovin' Read-a-thon Update #5 and Progress and Plans

"Whole lotta shakin' going on",

Hello bookworms,

Before I begin discussing the post I would just like to THANK EVERYONE SO MUCH for the over-whelming response I've had recently. I can't believe the amount of positive comments and views I've received. Blogging really has changed my life for the better and I wish I had the time to post everyday but I do the best that I can. Yet again THANK YOU!

Anyway so today I'll be writing about how I've been doing in the read-a-thon and what I hope to be reading for the rest of the read-a-thon.

Firstly I'll do an Update for today and yesterday :

Update #4
I didn't read as much as I'd hoped to yesterday as I only read to page 78 in Magenta #3 - Magenta goes green by Echo Freer.

I've certainly made up for it today already though as when I came home from a splendid day at school the heat and the sun made it irresistible to read outside.

I finished Magenta #3 - Magenta goes green by Echo Freer in addition to starting and finishing Lovephopia #1 (Manga).

I'm currently on page 17 of Love Struck by Rachael Wing and hope to finish it either tonight or tomorrow morning so I can return it to the library that same day.

Progress and Plans

Number of Books read so far - 5 books !

Sabrina the teenage witch #2 - The magic within (graphic novel) - Last 29 pages

Nancy Drew Files #7 - Deadly doubles by Carolyn Keene - Full 149 pages

Magenta #1 - Magenta Orange by Echo Freer - Full 203 pages

Magenta #3 - Magenta goes green by Echo Freer - Full 198 pages

Lovephobia #1 - Full 140 pages

Not counting for this but will count towards page count total
Love Struck by Rachael Wing - First 17 pages

Number of Pages read so far - 736 !

End of Read-thon TBR

This weekends weather is supposed to be hot and sunny so I hope to read these novels as I'll probably read more.

If I do read all these books I will have exceeded my goal of 7 books by reading 9 books and also triumphed my goal of 1,250 pages by reading 1,414 pages !

Love Struck by Rachael Wing - Currently reading this

Both sides of time by Caroline B. Cooney - Found this in the book box at the back of my German class (all the books in the box are English though) and thought I'd borrow at as she's one of my favourite author's.

Nancy Drew Files #59 - High risk by Carolyn Keene - NED'S IN THIS - ENOUGH SAID !

Sabrina the teenage witch #10 - Lotsa luck - Couldn't believe it when they had this at the library. I wanted to read one of the normal novels after reading the spectacular graphic novels.

Thank you for reading this post !

Summer Lovin' Read-a-thon Update #4, My Favourite Tear-jerker and Book Spines Poetry

Tears on my pillow,

Hello book lovers,

So today I'll be discussing a book that brought out my sensitivity and my poetry skills.

Before I get started though you'll see how I'm doing in the read-a-thon.

Take a look :
Update #4

I finished re-reading Magenta #1 - Magenta Orange by Echo Freer last night and so far today I've read 32 pages.

Hope to read tonight from 20:45pm - 22:00pm.

My Favourite Tear-jerker

This book is not for the optimistic person. The ending... will leave you crying for days. No one can ever say the words 'Bridge' or 'Suicide' without my vision blurring.

KAI NEVER SHOULD'VE HAD TO DIE! He's one of my favourite male characters and his letters truly made this book for me.

The most depressing book ever.

Book Spine Poetry Challenge

The Outsider's Farwell

Summer Lovin' Read-a-thon Update #3 and My Favourite Fictional Female

Look at me, I'm Sandra Dee

Hi Bookaholics,

Today I return to the schedule of the read-a-thon and discuss my favourite female book character.

Let me just say it was literally the hardest thing ever to choose my favourite so I just ended up choosing one I really adored.

My Favourite Fictional Female is...
(Picture isn't mine)
Alison Dilaurentis

From the Pretty Little Liars series obviously I enjoy the parts with her in most in the books and the show.

The reason I chose Alison is that she's just so bitchy but humourous at the same time.

She's the ultimate definition of popularity yet no one ,not even her friends, truly knows the real her.

Now let's see how my progress is for the read-a-thon :

 Update #3

I finished the last 16 pages of Nancy Drew Files #7 - Deadly Doubles by Carolyn Keene yesterday evening and tried to read J-17 - Double Love by Jacqui Deevoy  but it wasn't satisfying so I only read the first chapter.

Last night I also began reading the first book in one of my all time favourite series' Magenta #1 - Magenta Orange. I'm re-reading it so I can read Magenta #3 - Magenta Goes Green which I haven't read before. Currentley I'm on page 94.

Going to try and finish Magenta #1 - Magenta Orange tonight -probably won't though - and if I do I'll be reading the Lovephobia manga which won't take long.

Plan on reading - 19:30pm - 22:00pm.

Thank you for reading this post !

Summer Lovin' Read-a-thon Update #2 and My Ultimate Reading Zone

You're the place that I want,

Hello readers,

So today I'm veering off from the read-a-thon schedule and doing my own thing.

An idea struck me yesterday evening that I should do a post about the preparations I make before I begin reading which become particularly extreme during a read-a-thon.

First though here's an Update to show the progress I'm making :

Update #2

Yesterday I read to page 123 out of 149 of Nancy Drew Files #7 - Deadly Doubles by Carolyn Keene.

I read 10 pages before school this morning so I've now only got 16 pages left !

After I finish I'll be reading J-17 Love Games by Jacqui Deevoy and I plan on getting to page 100.

Tonight I shall be reading from approximately 19:30 pm - 22:00 pm.

There's 3 different sections to cover so let's start already :

Overview

Usually the place I read is my bed so that's where my reading zone is.

I prefer reading in my bed to other places as it's comfy as well as quiet.

Also both my bookshelves surround me so I can pick any book I want without having to move.

Section #1 - Book related necessities

TBR pile , review book, pens and reading journal

The purpose of having these items close :
  • TBR - Will motivate you to read and if you're not enjoying your current read then you can try something else.
  • Review book - Good for writing notes for your reviews
  • Pens - Obviously to write in your Review book and Reading Journal
  • Reading Journal - As soon as you've finished a book you can record it.

Things I wouldn't recommend having near are items that will distract you from reading e.g your laptop.

Your Current read/s

Probably the most crucial and obvious thing that doesn't really require an explanation.

A Clock

Reading often makes me loose track of time and so I accidentally stay up too late and feel so tired at school the next day.

A clock is a cheap solution and if you can only read for a certain amount of time, set the alarm for the time you want to stop.

Section #2 - Food and Drink

A beverage

You can become so engrossed in a book that you can become dehydrated so having a drink will cure this problem.

I especially recommend putting ice cubes in as they will keep your drink cool plus a straw as it decreases your chance of a spillage.

Apple, Orange and Kiwi with a knife

While I'm reading is the best time for me to have my 5 a day as I can multi-task.

This is a particularly useful tip for : apple eaters as it can take you ages to devour one so you might as well do something productive at the time and people who don't usually get their 5 a day.

Make sure you pre-chop/peel though because it could shorten your reading time instead doing this as a pause after finishing a chapter.

Strawberries

Berries and grapes are the easiest thing to eat while reading and also a source of your 5 a day.

I mentioned Strawberries as they're also a reward for sweet-tooth's as you could always dip them into melted chocolate.

Perfect for the Summer Lovin' read-a-thon because they're often associated with this time of year.

Section #3 - Clothing and Cushions

A Comfy Jumper and Leggings (both from H&M)

Blankets may keep most of you warm but what about your arms ?
It's time to bring out your favourite Winter jumper and give it some Summer Love.

You want to be your most comfortable whilst reading so lounge wear is my recommendation  (a t-shirt and shorts or a jumper and leggings depending on the temperature) for daytime.

Pyjamas (Mine are from Primark)

For those nights in with your boyfriend ... Your fictional one anyway !

Two pillows
I find that I'm less likely to slump if I use two pillows and I need two for back support because of the design of my bed.

Thank you for reading this post !
If you enjoyed please Follow me, Comment, Friend me on Goodreads (the link is in the sidebar to my account) and Read my other posts (if you haven't already).

Do you have your own reading zone ?
Do a Response Post or Comment below about it.

Any Post suggestions ?
Leave me a Comment below of your idea and I'll take it into consideration

Are you participating in the read-a-thon as well?
Please leave a Comment below telling me how much progress you're making

Tomorrow I'll probably return to the schedule,
